Course Description

This course provides you with the skills to install and maintain metal, fiberglass, and associated new material onto roofing structures. Installation of fascia, gutters, downpipes, valley gutters, ridge capping, barge capping, flashings, skylights, ventilators tektites, and battens are also included in this trade.

To be awarded this qualification, competency must be achieved in:

CPCPRF2022 – Select and install roof sheeting and wall cladding

CPCPRF2023 – Collect and store roof water

CPCPRF3022 – Fabricate and install roof drainage systems

CPCPRF3023 – Fabricate and install external flashings

CPCPRF3024 – Install roof components

CPCPRF3025 – Install roof coverings to curved roof structures

CPCPRF3026 – Install roof sheets, wall cladding and complex flashings

Course Duration & Mode of Delivery

Australian Trade Skills offers this qualification by Full time Study or RPL.

Full Time Study course duration is for 104 weeks which includes 24 holiday weeks from the date of commencement of the course.

This course requires face to face interaction, with full time study requiring 20 hours of attendance per week.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Recognition is available to all learners of the RTO. An application for Recognition can be made on the Application for Recognition Form. Participants must be working in the industry and have the support of their employers.

Employment Opportunities

This qualification has employability skills. Participants may find employment in construction roles in businesses and other industries requiring building and construction qualifications.

Entry Requirements

  • be aged 18 years or over
  • be an existing worker in a building supervision role
  • have the support of their supervisor and employer
  • hold a minimum of a Higher School Certificate (or equivalent)
  • able to commit to the course duration and time commitment
  • Have already attained a “Whitecard”
  • Satisfactorily completed our Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment
  • Have a completed workplace support agreement, which confirms the resources required for training and assessment will be made available to the student.

Additional Requirements

Students will need to have an internet-capable laptop.

Students will need this to access the learning and assessment material both in class and at home.
